MAKKAH 22 June 2017: King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King of Saudi Arabia, issued a Royal Decree on Wednesday appointing his son, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as the Kingdom’s Crown Prince, replacing his nephew Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, who was relieved from his post.

Mohammed bin Salman has also been named Deputy Prime Minister and will continue his post as the country’s Defence Minister, said Wam.

The Royal Court said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), that, the ruling of the Kingdom “shall be from the sons of the founding King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Faisal Al Saud and his sons of sons where the most promising of them are chosen to rule.”

King Salman also appointed Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud bin Naif as Interior Minister, a post held by the former Crown Prince.

ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a congratulatory cable to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King of Saudi Arabia, on the occasion of his appointment of Prince Mohammed bin Salman as the Kingdom’s Crown Prince, who has also assumed the position of Deputy Prime Minister and will continue as the country’s Defence Minister.

In another cable to Prince Mohammed bin Salman, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa wished him success in performing his duties, supporting the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and his continuing the process of development and renaissance in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, dispatched similar cables, in which they expressed their congratulations to the King of Saudi Arabia, asking God to perpetuate the health and wellness of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, bringing the Kingdom all that it aspires to achieve, and wishing Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman success in carrying out his duties.

Ruler of Sharjah congratulates Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques 

SHARJAH: H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has sent a congratulatory cable to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, on appointing Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, also sent similar cables to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince.

ABU DHABI: Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President’s Representative, has sent a congratulatory cable to Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, on the appointment as detailed in the royal decree issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed also wished Prince Mohammed bin Salman all the success, and expressed his pride in the brotherly relations between the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and keenness on developing and upgrading them across all fields.
