Sewa chief appointed to 12-member Singapore water council

SHARJAH 12 September 2017: Dr Rashid Alleem, Chairman of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) has been appointed as a member by Singapore’s World Water Advisers Council.

Singapore World Water Advisers Council has decided to assign Dr. Rashid Alleem for membership in the Council for his efforts in the field of sustainable development and benefit from his expertise in water resource management and the development of a road map to contribute effectively to sustainable global development.

The council involves various visitors from international organizations to government bodies, universities and research centers on various aspects of international water policy.

Dr. Alleem focused on that key policy and management changes that are expected to assure the ideal utilization of accessible water assets and take care of the developing demand. He also added that the World Council of Water Advisers will strengthen and urge governments and associations to execute worldwide research.

To save water from waste as the needs for the global future requires resources that can be managed with high efficiency, this is an issue that is becoming progressively important and crucial in the development of the world’s population.

He also stated the need for all countries to stop the unsustainable exploitation of water resources and to develop integrated water resource management and water efficiency plans.

The council is comprised of 12 members of the world’s leading experts and specialists. It is headed by Tan Ji Bo, chairman of the Water Authority of Singapore.
