ABU DHABI 25 November 2018: Lead guitarist Slash from Guns N’ Roses made his way to Yas Marina Circuit on day three of the Formula 1 2018 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The band, which is set to perform at today’s After-Race Concert, are already in the capital and are soaking up the race weekend atmosphere of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Slash was seen mingling with race team members and waving at fans from the Mercedes team garage in the pit lane at the Circuit the day before headlining the final concert at the Du Arena on Sunday 25th November.

Fursan Al Emarat viws crowds

The clear blue skies above Yas Marina Circuit were filled on Saturday with the UAE’s brightly coloured, seven-jet Fursan Al Emarat aerobatic display team, impressing fans and visitors from around the world.

While Formula 1 enthusiasts enjoyed the on and off-track entertainment in the build up to the 2018 season finale at the Circuit, heads were turned skyward to witness the exciting performances by the Fursan Al Emarat.

A perennial fan favourite, the UAE team’s dazzling and perfectly choreographed displays has become one of the weekend’s most anticipated spectacles.

Fursan Al Emarat’s commander, Captain Nasser Al Obaidli, describes the displays which are flown between 100 and 6,000 feet, as a series of breathtaking air frescoes, the most important and well known of which is the Emirates DNA plate, a breathtaking and balletic spiral manoeuvre that always draws gasps of delight.

Captain Nasser Al Obeidli said: “The UAE team’s representation at a range of local, regional and international events is a great honor that we are proud of, and of course, we are delighted to be displaying once more during the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Strict Training

“We train for 30 minutes every day in the build-up and my team of pilots has a lot of experience. For us, the display has become a fantastic event that we hope makes the fans feel that aircraft are dancing in the sky to the most beautiful music.

Today’s pre-race fly past, which will take place together with an all-new 10 Year Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Anniversary liveried Boeing 787-9 and Year of Zayed liveried Etihad Airways Airbus A380 over the Yas Marina Circuit, starts at 16:57pm.

Legendary F1 drivers meet fans

Ahead of today’s race, F1 fans got up close and personal with their driving heroes at an exclusive autograph signing session at Yas Marina Circuit.

Legendary drivers – Fernando Alonso, Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, to name but a few – snapped selfies and signed autographs, making the fans’ Abu Dhabi Grand Prix experience one to remember.
