Sultan Qaboos of Oman is no more, UAE condoles

MUSCAT 12 January 2020: The Diwan of Royal Court of Oman announced yesterday morning the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said of Oman who passed away on Friday.

The Oman News Agency quoted an obituary issued by the Royal Court Diwan as saying that the court “mourns His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, who passed away on Friday, the 14th of Jumada Al-Ula, the 10th of January 2020, after establishing a comprehensive renaissance over the past 50 years since he assumed power on the 23rd of July 1970.”

On this sorrowful occasion, the Diwan of Royal Court has announced a state of mourning and the halt of official work in the public and private sectors for three days and the flying of flags at half-mast over the forthcoming 40 days.

UAE President mourns Sultan Qaboos

ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has mourned with great sorrow the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said of Oman, who passed away on Friday.

He prayed to Allah Almighty to bless the soul of the late Sultan Qaboos with mercy in Paradise.

The President commended the late Sultan for being dedicated to the service of his people and nation and his work on bolstering cohesion of the Arab Nation.

Sheikh Khalifa added, “As we express our sincere condolences to the Omani royal family and the people of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman on the death of the great late Sultan Qaboos, we express our full confidence that the people of Oman and its leadership will continue his blessed march serving the causes of the nation and advance the Arab joint action.”

The UAE President has also ordered a three-day mourning, starting yesterday, Saturday, and that the UAE national flag be flown at half-mast at all government departments across the country and at all embassies and diplomatic missions of the UAE overseas.

UAE President orders funeral prayer for Sultan Qaboos

Sheikh Khalifa has ordered to offer funeral prayer in absentia on the soul of the late Sultan Qaboos of Oman.

The prayer will be offered in all mosques nationwide on Saturday after Maghreb Prayer (Sunset Prayer).

UAE leaders offer condolences on death of Sultan Qaboos

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a message to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman, expressing his condolences on the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said.

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed prayed to Allah the Almighty to rest the soul of the deceased in Paradise.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also dispatched similar messages to Sultan Haitham.
