UAE condemns deadly terror van attack in Barcelona

ABU DHABI 19 August: President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a cable of condolences to Felipe VI, King of Spain, for the victims of the terrorist attack that took place in Barcelona on Thursday, which killed and injured many innocent people.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Sheikh Khalifa reiterated the UAE’s firm stance to reject terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and its call to enhance international co-operation to eradicate this dangerous phenomenon, which poses a threat to global security and stability.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, sent cables of condolence to Mariano Rajoy, Prime Minister of Spain.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has condemned the van crash by terrorists in the Las Rambla tourist district of Barcelona on Thursday.

A van ploughed into pedestrians killing and wounding scores of them, according to the Catalunya Police.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the UAE condemned this terrorist act and reiterated its firm position that rejects all forms of violence and terrorism that target everyone, irrespective of religion and race.

The ministry affirmed the UAE’s solidarity with the Spanish government in its fight against violence and extremism and called on the international community to stand united to confront and uproot this scourge, which poses a threat to the security and stability of the world.

In conclusion, the statement from the ministry wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack.

Bahrain condemns Barcelona terrorist attack

MANAMA: Bahrain condemned the terrorist attack which took place in Barcelona when a van ploughed into a crowd, killing a number of innocent people and injuring others.

The Foreign Ministry expressed solidarity with the friendly Kingdom of Spain in confronting terrorism and preserving the security of its citizens and the residents living on its territories.

In a statement carried out by Bahrain News Agency, BNA, tonight, the ministry extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured who were wounded in the criminal attacked which targeted innocent people. It reiterated Bahrain’s firm rejection of violence, terrorism and extremism and called for concerted international efforts to root out the heinous scourge that threatens global security

Egypt condemns Barcelona attack

CAIRO: Egypt has condemned the terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain, on Thursday that killed at least 13 people and injured more than 30 others, Egypt’s foreign ministry said in a statement.

The foreign ministry offered Egypt’s condolences for the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery for those injured in the attack.

The ministry also expressed Egypt’s solidarity with the Spanish government and people against terrorism, adding that these attacks will not bend the will of governments or peoples in fighting terrorism.

The statement also called on all countries to take serious and immediate steps to end terrorism and target its sources of funding.

UN condemns terrorist attack in Barcelona

NEW YORK: Antonio Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General, has condemned the terrorist attack in Barcelona on Thursday that killed at least 13 people and wounded dozens of others.

In a statement, Guterres said that the UN stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Spain in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, extending his heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those killed and to the Government and people of Spain, wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.

He also hoped that those responsible for this heinous violence will be swiftly brought to justice.
