ABU DHABI 13 January 2020: The UAE has achieved another global accomplishment ranking first globally in terms of its residency laws, said the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in its World Competitiveness Report.

IMD is the issuing organization of the report, and is one of the most prestigious international entities withholding high standards. The report measures the ability and willingness of 63 economies to adopt and explore digital technologies as a key motivation for economic transformation in the business sector, government and society.

Major General Mohammad Al Marri, Director-General of General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) said the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship Services (ICA) has set clear and simple requirements for living in the UAE, and is providing opportunities for all visitors and residents to enjoy exceptional benefits.

“In addition, the authority made it easier for working expats to bring their families to reside with them in the country, and is seeking to ensure a decent life for all, as well as enabling investors to conduct business seamlessly in the UAE.”

The IMD reports also showed that the UAE was the best country in 2019 in other indicators, including: the availability of international expertise; best public-private partnerships; the most resilient economy; the least government bureaucracy; entrepreneurship; adopting social responsibility; mobile network coverage; most efficient in government spending; best credit information; highest tertiary level inbound mobility; best labor productivity per employee; and ease of getting electricity for businesses.

“The UAE is keen to provide all facilities for those who live on its land, and its laws are keen to ensure preserving the rights of all its residents,” Al Marri concluded.
