3-day official mourning period started yesterday
ABU DHABI 29 January 2018: President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is mourning the death of his mother, the late Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, who passed away yesterday, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.
In its statement, the Ministry also declared a 3-day official mourning period starting yesterday, during which UAE flags will be flown at half mast, said Wam.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is mourning the death of Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, who passed away.
In a statement, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid extended his deep condolences to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the entire Al Nahyan family, praying to Allah Almighty to rest her soul in peace.
Mohamed bin Zayed mourns death of President’s mother
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, is mourning the death of Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the mother of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who passed away.
A statement issued by the Crown Prince’s Court this morning said, “Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is mourning the death of Sheikha Hessa, who passed away today. May Allah rest her soul in peace.”
The Crown Prince’s Court will be marking the official 3-day mourning period, flying the flag at half mast.
UAE Rulers mourn death of President Khalifa’s mother
Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates are mourning the death of Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the mother of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who passed away.
In separate statements, the Rulers expressed their deep condolences to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa.
In a statement issued by the Sharjah Ruler’s Court, H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, extended his sincere condolences to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, and the Al Nahyan family, asking Allah Almighty to rest her soul in Paradise.
It also declared a 3-day mourning period in the Emirate of Sharjah, during which UAE flags will be flown at half mast.
In a statement issued by the Ajman Ruler’s Court, H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, expressed his sincere condolences to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa and the entire Al Nahyan family, asking Allah Almighty to grant them patience and solace to bear their loss, and to rest the deceased in peace.
A 3-day mourning period in the Emirate of Ajman, during which UAE flags will be flown at half mast, was also announced.
In a statement issued by the Fujairah Ruler’s Court, H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, extended his sincere condolences to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, the Al Nahyan family, and the people of the UAE, praying to Allah Almighty to rest her soul in peace.
The statement declared a 3-day mourning period in the Emirate of Fujairah, during which UAE flags will be flown at half mast.
In a statement issued by the Umm Al Quiwain Ruler’s Court, H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quiwain, expressed his sincere condolences to President Khalifa and the entire Al Nahyan family. He also asked God Almighty to accept the deceased in Paradise.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed performed the funeral prayer at Al Mu’tareed Mosque in Al Ain, on the body of Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the mother of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who passed away.
