ADEN 20 November 2017: Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), has provided urgent relief to a suffering elderly Yemeni woman from Dar Saad, Aden, who was unable to provide food for herself and her family, and was threatened with eviction from her home due to her inability to pay rent.
Abdulaziz Al Jabri, Head of the ERC Team in Hadramaut, directed his team to head immediately to Aden and answer the appeal of Umm Halima, after her request was viewed on social media, where she wept at the poverty and hunger inside her home, which lacks the simplest basics of living.
The ERC team provided Umm Halima with her basic needs, including food supplies, blankets and clothing, and bought her a refrigerator, washing machine and oven. It also give her a sum of money to start a small business, to gradually improve her living standards.
Al Jabri stressed that the ERC’s answer to humanitarian calls, and its relief for those in need, is part of its desire to draw a smile on the faces of ordinary people in all liberated Yemeni cities, which coincides with the Year of Giving Initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the words of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to his children, to feed the people, birds, beasts, trees and the earth, and guarantee unconditional assistance to those in need.

The smile did not leave the face of Umm Halima while she was receiving the ERC team in her home, whose members sympathised with her plight and provided her with her basic needs, which returned her smile and happiness and made her forget about her sorrows and burdens.
Umm Halima expressed, with overwhelming happiness, her appreciation to the UAE and the children of Zayed the Giving for their humanitarian gesture.
The ERC, since the liberation of the Governorate of Aden from the coup militias, has prepared an urgent plan and is still delivering assistance to those deserving in all liberated Yemeni governorates, especially in remote and desperate areas, which have not been reached by other local or international organisations.
