Forty-one-year old Indian manager, RL, allegedly threatened to behead his friend if she abandoned him and married another man, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The victim, EK, 29, Belarusian, saleswoman told investigators that her friendship with the accused was in 2013 and continued until early this year.
“Beginning of this year, RL started consuming alcohol, and became very nervous and angry person. Because of that, I ended my relationship with him.
However, the accused did not accept that and tried to contact the woman several times but she did not respond.
On July 14, at around 10.30pm, the accused sent threat messages to the victim before he approached her and tried to get into her flat forcibly.
“I got very scared as he was knocking at my flat’s door, shouting and asking me to open the door. He also called me on my mobile. I did not answer the call. He then sent me a message abusing and threatening to kill me,” she said.
The woman handed over her mobile to the police to retrieve the messages.
The last message reads, “I will kill everyone and I am happy to go to jail. If you want to save your life call me so that your family would not blame me. I am a mafia man and you should respect that. You are a b*** and you think that I cannot kill you. I will kill you and kill your boyfriend. I promise you that I will separate your head from your body and this is a promise.”
The manager admitted to threatening the woman when confronted by the police.
However, he claimed that while they were friends and worked together, he used to give her money, but he raged in anger when she became jealous of his female work colleagues.
“Recently, she became very jealous and asked me to cut off my relationship with my colleagues. I refused to do that cut off my relationship with her. She sent me messages and so I threatened of killing her,” he admitted.
Chief Prosecutor, Khalifa Hashim Al Darmaki asked the court to implement stiffest penalty against the accused.
The court will issue verdict on November 16.
