Why are Abu Dhabi churches lit up in green?

ABU DHABI 21 September 2019: A number of non-Muslim places of worship have been lighted up in green, ahead of the ceremony to licence them and in celebration of International Day of Peace 2019.

The ceremony will be organised by the Department of Community Development the regulator of places of worship in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, under the slogan “A Call for harmony”, and in conjunction with International Peace Day.

The places of worship will be lit until Sunday, September 22, in a celebration of the efforts of the Department of Community Development. said Wam.

According to many of the leaders of the places of worship, lighting their buildings in green ahead of the upcoming licensing ceremony is a celebration of the authorities’ efforts to provide decent live for all. They mentioned also appreciate the initiatives of DCD and other partners to aware them about the required conditions to obtain a licence.

The representatives of the places of worship stressed that the licensing reflects the Emirati leadership’s care to provide support for all community, as well as the Emirati society’s tolerance.

They also pointed out that Abu Dhabi’s community lives in harmony, enjoying religious, cultural, and demographic diversity.
