when will Eid holidays start?

DUBAI 21 August 2017: When will the customary Haj and the festivities of Eid Al Adha start is the question foremost in the minds of the residents of the UAE, the GCC and the global Muslim community.

And, how many days of holidays will be declared in the UAE, is the consequential query.

The answers to both may be answered today at dusk – all you need to do is look out for the sliver of the new moon and report it to relevant authorities.

Yesterday, Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court called on all Muslims in the Kingdom to sight the crescent of Dhu Al Hijjah month, 1438 AH, on Monday evening, 29th of the month of Dhu-al-Qa’dah, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

According to the agency, the Supreme Court said in its announcement that whoever sees the crescent of the month of Dhu Al Hijjah by the naked eye or via binoculars to report to the nearest court and register their testimony or report to the nearest centre to facilitate their reaching to a court, said Wam.
