DUBAI 5 May 2019: Would you like to travel along or even above the skyline of Dubai and see the city as if you were an eagle suspended in the sky above?

That may soon become a reality if Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) gets the green light to set up a ‘Skyway’. It will use ‘skypods’ to transport people above one of Dubai’s busiest thoroughfares.

Skypods project is a suspended transit system that links vital spots such as the Dubai International Financialcentre (DIFC) and Downtown Dubai, where the awe-inspiring global icon Burj Khalifa is located.

The project has 21 stations and the capacity to transit 8,400 riders per hour per direction, says the RTA.

The ‘Suspended Transport Units’ project is an advanced transportation system in the skies over the city. The total length of the project is 15 kilometers, and includes 21 stations, it added.
