135 smuggling attempts foiled on King Fahd Causeway

Saudi customs inspectors on King Fahd Causeway linking the Gulf kingdom with nearby Bahrain foiled 135 attempts to smuggle drugs liquor and other items during the Eid break last week, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Several people were arrested in connection with those operations which involved 22 gm of hashish, more than 185 liquor bottles, 360 banned birds as well as oil products and pork, Sabq Arabic language daily said, quoting customs director Fahd Al Otaibi.

He said the inspectors also seized nearly 872 million riyals (Dh872 million) which was not declared by their owners.
