Leaders condole Egypt as 15-year old suicide bomber kills 7

ABU DHABI 11 April 2019: President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has sent a cable of condolences to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi of Egypt, expressing his sincere condolences over the victims of the terrorist attack, that took place Tuesday, targeting a police patrol in the northern Sinai region that resulted in seven casualties and injuring many others.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also sent similar cables of condolences to the Egyptian President.

CAIRO: Four police personnel and three civilians, including a six-year-old boy, were killed and at least 26 others injured in a suicide bombing on Tuesday afternoon in a Sheikh Zuweid market in North Sinai governorate, Egypt’s Interior Ministry said.

According to the ministry’s statement carried by Wam, a 15-year-old suicide bomber detonated explosives at a security checkpoint in the local market in the heart of Sheikh Zuweid city.

Four policemen, including two officers, were killed in the attack.

The injured have been transferred to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. Security forces from the police and Armed Forces are currently combing the area.
