156 new mosques to be built across the UAE

DUBAI

The Dar Al Ber Society, as part of its support for the “Year of Giving” initiative that was launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, successfully collected up to AED19.4 million to build 156 mosques, both locally and abroad.

The “Build a Mosque” initiative that was recently launched has not only been a big success, but it has also exceeded the set targets, said Khalfan Khalifa Al Mazroui, Chairman of Dar Al Ber Society.

“The 156 mosques, to be built across the UAE and in a number of Muslim countries around the globe, are the result of our “Build a Mosque” initiative that ended on January 27,” he added.

Dar Al Ber initially planned the construction of only 90 mosques with a total value of AED10 million. “However, the nationwide campaign has been a big success, and our representatives have managed to collect AED19.4 million,” he further added.

The 37-year-old Dubai-based charity association has always been keen to support the UAE leadership’s ‘Year of Giving’ initiative. “This is mainly for the benefit of poor and low-income people,” explained Al Mazroui.

According to Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber, the society has maximised their advertising efforts for the ‘Build a Mosque’ campaign, on the Abu Dhabi Holy Quran and the Noor Dubai radio stations.

“More advertisements have also been posted on social media and advertising boards across the UAE, to attract and encourage more contributions for different types of mosques, in support of the “Year of Giving” initiative,” he added.
