DUBAI 1 January 2019: Did you step out and see the amazing party in Dubai last night.
Of course, there were long traffic snarls and parking was an issue, but for those who braved the odds, it was well worth it.
According to the Dubai Government Media Office some 2 million people attended the New Year Eve’s celebrations at various points in Dubai.
A million alone were at Downtown Dubai to watch the spectacular laser and fireworks show at the world’s tallest building.

There were seven countdowns – starting with 2019 breaking in Japan – at the Global Village. Other locations in Dubai included the Burj Al Arab and Dubai Festival City.
Of course, many more million watched the shows from the comfort of their couches.
People started gathering at Dubai Downtown early in the day with their picnic baskets and as the evening approached, the access roads and metro stations began to be closed off one by one to manage the steady flow of people and ensure safety for all.
