551 free Abu Dhabi parking spaces now ‘paid’… but where?

Villa permit holders are eligible for free parking

ABU DHABI 8 June 2017: Mawaqif has implemented paid 551 surface parking bays in Abu Dhabi, in sector W13-02 of the city.

These will be paid parking bays, according to the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT)

“These parking bays were free of charge and will be now be implemented as paid parking,” the DMAT said in an announcement.

The area is bordered by Al Falah Street to the north, Hazaa bin Zayed to the south, Al Karama Street to the east and Mubarak bin Mohammed Street to the west. Villa permit holders are eligible for free parking.

Mohammed Hamad Al Muhairi, Deputy General Manager of the Integrated Transport Centre, Head of Traffic and Parking Team, said that the implementation of paid parking management in the sector will offer long-term solutions to parking issues, maintain the traffic flow and decrease illegal parking cases.

He explained that it is illegal to park on yellow and grey markings, in the middle of the road, double-parking, drop off and pick up points, pedestrian crossings, access points and fire hydrants.
