ABU DHABI 4 April 2017: The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT), has implemented the ‘Park and Ride Service’ for companies in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Currently, as many as nine entities operate from Park and Ride service sites from Zayed Sports City, Heritage Park and Corniche with more than 600 registered daily users. The number of registered users and data indicate that over 6,000 trips per month are benefiting from the Park and Ride services.
The Park and Ride service is a key initiative aimed at reducing the demand for parking and easing traffic congestion during peak hours. It significantly cuts fuel and maintenance costs, improves road safety, facilitates staff movement using sustainable modes, reduces carbon emissions and provides secure parking spaces.
The service offered is part of DMAT’s efforts to upgrade transport services towards developing an integrated, convenient, sustainable and world-class transportation system aligned with the Abu Dhabi’s surface transport master plans.
