DUBAI 15 October 2018: A passenger has been killed in an accident on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.

Two others – including the driver – have been injured, according to Dubai Police.

It said in a tweet that the driver of a truck was not aware of a roundabout on the road ahead of him and kept going without reducing speed till he crashed.

“The driver was injured as the second passenger died. A third passenger was taken to Rashid Hospital for treatment,” said the police tweet.

The tweet was picked up by residents and one of them, Najib ben Cherif suggested: “I would like the police to consider more protection for pedestrians, to make a warning signal at all their designated crossings, and to monitor vehicles that do not allow pedestrians to cross the road at these crossings, with severe punishment for violators. Doing so will reduce the risk of traffic accidents. Thank you.”

Another respondent, Basel, said. “Saw this in the morning, the speed limit on the street is only 60, this guy just died for no reason whatever…”
