Global coronavirus deaths cross 2 million mark

LONDON 18 January 2021: More than 94.28 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 2,021,331​ have died, according to a Reuters tally Sunday.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019, said Wam/Reuters.

Oman imposes weeklong border lockdown

MUSCAT: The Omani Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from Covid-19 pandemic decided to keep land borders of the Sultanate closed for one renewable week effective today, Monday, 18, from 6 pm.

This came as the committee reviewed the report of the specialised technical team on the spread of the new Covid-19 strain and means of protecting all individuals of society against the disease, in general, and the new variant in particular, according to the Oman News Agency.
