Discussed at the Dubai forum for government best practices

Forum kicks off today under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai

•    Al-Shaibani: “The focus of the current edition of the Forum comes in line with the strategy of foreseeing future and the Dubai Future Accelerators initiative launched by HRH ruler of Dubai recently.”

•    Dr. Al-Nuseirat: “Building a sustainable and distinct future depends primarily on the efforts and energies of young people whom we look to for building an advanced future based on creativity and innovation.”

•    Al-Nuaimi: “We make sure every year to present what’s new and distinctive, with the aim of improving government work to the highest levels of international standards.”

Dubai, 25th October 2016: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai Forum for Government Best Practices kicked off this morning at DWTC. The Forum is organized by Dubai Executive Council’s DGEP.

The Forum hosts select government leaders in local institutions and in friendly nations that have proven success and distinction in performing Government work, to participate in its discussions and interactive sessions, as it discusses a number of important topics in the development of Government work and instilling a culture of excellence and innovation.

In this context, HE Abdullah Al-Shaibani, the Secretary General of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, indicated that the Forum that bears the logo (Youth Government, Future Government) in its 9th edition, achieved unrivaled success over the past years. He said: “Dubai Forum for the Government Best Practices has become a benchmark for events designed to entrench a culture of excellence and promoting government work to the highest levels of performance. In our keenness to provide the latest trends in every edition of the Forum, we follow the vision and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai – May God protect him – to activate the role of young people and their positive participation in the community and the different sectors of the government as outstanding leaders in the government of the future, aiming to transform innovation and creativity into the foundation of the architecture of government work in Dubai and U.A.E. generally.”

This Forum is considered a leading interactive platform, hosting the elite administration experts at local, regional and international levels, to put their experiences and expertise in the hands of the audience and participants, and review best practices in managing government business. We hope that the Forum in the current edition presents all that is useful and constructive in areas of government excellence and innovation,” added Al-Shaibani.

He pointed out that the focus of the current edition of the Forum come in line with the strategy of foreseeing the future and Dubai Future Accelerators initiative launched by the ruler of Dubai recently, through its role in converting the U.A.E. and the emirate of Dubai into an international capital for foreseeing the future and making it happen. Through supporting innovation in making the future of strategic sectors, future leaders create economic value based on embracing and accelerating business and future technological solutions, converting government agencies to support innovation, research and development.

International speakers
Dr. Ahmad Al-Nuseirat, the General Coordinator of the Dubai Government Excellence Program said:” Based on the insights and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai – May God protect him – we committed ourselves in the Dubai Government Excellence Program to strengthen creativity and excellence in performing Government work across a range of activities, events and leading initiatives, including the Dubai Forum for Government Best Practices which comes this year to consolidate the role of youth in leading the future.

He added: “This forum enhances the youth’s standing as an essential and active element in the process of development and construction, since building a sustainable, outstanding future will only be achieved through cooperation among all components of the community of individuals, institutions, government bodies and private companies. It depends primarily on the efforts and energies of young people who make up the broader group in our society, and to whom we look up to for creating an advanced future based on creativity and innovation.”

“We have been hosting the institutional thought leaders and select global speakers over the past years, in order to benefit from their expertise in promoting a culture of excellence and development of governmental business, and this year the Forum is honored with the participation of a group of speakers who have extensive experience and reputation in their fields of specialty. HE Mohamed Ali Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties will discuss a topic entitled “Promising Beginnings”.

“Mr. Mohamed Alabbar is a distinct self-made Emirati national and personality who made his way towards knowledge and success, owing to his perseverance, diligence and creativity. He will share with the participants at the Forum a glimpse of his promising beginnings as a new employee in administrative and government work, telling them about the challenges that confronted him and ambitions that motivated him and how he overcame the challenges and who was his example and mentor in the journey to success. He will also provide advices for young people in the Government sector and managers and administrators in general,” he concluded.

Mr. Frodie Morring, UN and UNDP resident representative, will talk about “Youth in the Modern World”. On a topic entitled “Challenges in the Presidential Office”, Farah Pandith will share her rich experience, as a universal lecturer and an employee of the George W. Bush and Barack Obama office. Also, Jon Duschinsky, world lecturer in foreseeing the future – at the Future Foreseeing Office – will be hosted to talk about “Virtual Jobs. Jobs of the Future”. Jordan Casey, a universal lecturer and the youngest inventor and programmer at Apple Co., will talk about his success story.

Dr. Al-Nuseirat advised that the Forum program includes four discussion panels entitled “Youths’ Ambition” which will host Sheikh Theyab bin Khalifa AlNahyan, Farah Pandith First Ever Special Representative to Muslim Communities for the US State Department & Senior Fellow of Council on Foreign Relations” and Ameera Amir founder of Weyakum enterprise, in addition to special lectures for the winners of the awards of the Dubai Government Excellence program for 2016. At the forum, the youth will hold a discussion with them and learn about their experiences across sessions entitled “Youth Council”, , which will host Eng. Sara Al Amiri, Chairman of Emirati Scholars Council; Fatima Mohammad Al Joker, member of the UAE Youth Council and Coordinator of the Dubai Youth Council; Mohamed Al Sharhan, Board Member of Ras Al Khaima council. The speakers of innovative employee’s session are Dr. Rashid Al Ghaferi, Salem Mohamed bin Ali and Amer Zain Alabedeen; distinguished government employees session will host official Admiral Talal Ahmed Al-Shanquity; distinguished technical/engineering employee eng. Mariam Salmeen; distinguished employee in specialized jobs Hamdah Ahli; as well as distinguished employee in field work Al-Ghays and the new distinguished employee Mohamed Al-Marri.

Forum themes
Mr. Hazza Khalfan Al Nuaimi, Senior Manager of Excellence Initiatives at DGEP, advised that Dubai Forum for Government Best Practices will discuss many vital topics, in an effort to promote a culture of excellence as a daily routine of government performance.
He said: “This year’s Forum provides an opportunity for attendees and participants to view the local and international experiences in the field of youth and future government and offers a variety of projects, distinct government initiatives and awareness films of government best practices and interactive sessions on youth and the future government. He also dealt with the elements of success and excellence in work teams, government initiatives and projects, elements of success and distinction in the categories of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum initiative for Government innovation – Ibdaa.”

“A number of officials and employees in the public sector – during interactive sessions – review their success stories and how they have achieved excellence and innovation and the nature of their achievements that enabled them to win the categories of Dubai Government Excellence program,” he added. “Also, during the Forum, the experiences and success stories of leading young Emirati entrepreneurs in different areas of work will be reviewed.”

Al-Nuaimi pointed out that what’s new in this year’s forum is providing innovative effectiveness in the ‘Best Practices Cinema’ which aim to share knowledge and increase awareness of the practices carried out by government agencies in Dubai and highlighting them in a visually interesting form, adding that the Dubai Government Excellence program will launch a new initiative, “Talk of Excellence” which is one of the events accompanying the Forum.
He said: “We expect an exceptional success for this year’s edition of the Dubai Forum for Government Best Practices because we are keen every year to provide what is new and distinctive, with the aim of improving government work to the highest levels of international standards.”

Talk of Excellence
The Forum contains a new event, which is called the “Talk of Excellence”, in which a number of outstanding Emirati youth will present a brief, enjoyable show aiming to spread new and distinct ideas. The initiative also aims to highlight the outstanding youth in all areas, transfer of their expertise and experience in attending the Forum via a show of not more than 10 minutes to talk about their most important achievements.
During this event which takes place on the first day of the Forum,  Hazza  Altamayoz  will take part with a topic entitled “Talk of Excellence”; Badr Saab with a topic entitled “Volunteering” Also, Dr. Mariam Suliman will speak on a topic entitled “Japanese experience in Kaizen innovation”, and Hamid bin Karam will talk on the topic entitled “Support” and Dana Al-Balushi on the topic entitled “My Journey in NASA” and Eng. Adnan Lingawi will talk about the “New Excellent Employee” experience,

On the second day of the “Talk of Excellence Forum”, Amira Amir participates with a topic entitled “Wayakom Foundation for Emirati Youth Development”,  Adeeb Al-Balushi with a topic entitled “Young Innovator”, while Eng. Imran Sharaf will discuss a topic entitled “Space” and Dr. Alya Kaldari participates with a topic entitled “Dubai Future Accelerators”.

Also, Engineer Mohamed Al Sharhan will participate with a topic entitled “Sustainability, Innovation and Future”, while Amna Al-Haddad will participate with a topic entitled “From the press to realizing the dream of the Olympics”. Also, Mashaal Al-Marzouki will talk about “World of Creativity”, and Sheikha Fatima Bint Saud Al Mu’alla will join with a topic entitled “Reading and its importance for the individual and society”.

Meanwhile, Iman bin Shaybah will talk about “Electronic Publishing”, and Nour Al-Suwaidi on “Art and Culture”, also Engineer Hamad Jassim Rajab will participate with a topic entitled “Sustainability and Excellence.. A Lifestyle” while Fatima Al-Naimi will talk about the “Reading Challenge Champion” experience.
