Eid on Aug 21: One week holiday for government

ABU DHABI 12 August 2018: Today [Sunday August 12th] is the first day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah.

Consequently, Eid Al Adha 1439 AH, 2018 AD, will fall on August 21st, according to the Saudi Supreme Court.

The Saudi Supreme Court, which earlier called on the public to view Dhul-Hijjah crescent at Saturday sunset, announced in a statement in Riyadh that, according to many adult witnesses who made their testimonies to their perspective regional courts, it was verified that Sunday is the first of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, according to the Calendar of Umm Al-Qura, said Wam.

Accordingly, the attendance at the Mount of Arafat, the peak and main pillar of Hajj ritual, falls on Monday the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah – corresponding to August 20th, 2018 – and that Eid Al Adha will be the next day following Arafat Day, which corresponds to Tuesday, August 21st, 2018.

One-week Eid al-Adha holiday for ministries, federal departments: UAE Cabinet

DUBAI:  The Eid al-Adha holiday for ministries, and federal departments begins on Sunday, August 19th, and lasts until August 23rd, with official work resuming on Sunday, August 26th, 2018, according to the directives of the UAE Cabinet.

On the occasion, the cabinet extended its congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,  Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, along with Their Highnesses, Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates, as well as the people of the UAE and Arab and Islamic countries.
