Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open takes flight as golf stars land in Abu Dhabi

Ladies European Tour players Amy Boulden, Belen Mozo, Carly Booth and Aditi Ashok sharpen their skills alongside golf legend Annika Sorenstam

1 November 2016, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Golf’s young stars Amy Boulden, Belen Mozo, Carly Booth and Aditi Ashok already have their sights set on birdies this week as they were welcomed to this week’s Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open by local Falcons.
Joined by Europe’s Solheim Cup team captain Annika Sorenstam, the players were introduced to Saadiyat Beach Golf Club’s stunning Gary Player-designed beachfront course with a unique ‘Pink Bunker Challenge’.
Competing against each other for the first time this week, the ladies each had to play four pink-ball bunker shots in 10 seconds in a bid to land nearest to the pin.
Following a fast, fierce and fun-filled competition, it was India’s 18 year-old rising star Aditi Ashok who took home the inaugural Pink Bunker Challenge title with an impressive shot that lipped the hole to secure the win.
One hundred and twenty six players will compete in Abu Dhabi’s first women’s professional golf tournament this week for the US$550,000 prize purse and a chance to climb the 2016 Order of Merit rankings.
Alongside world-class golf, the tournament will offer an action-packed four days of interactive experiences, golf clinics, children’s activities, competitions, cuisine and much more for families and friends.
The FBMLO has been organised by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, in co-operation with Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The event is free to attend and tees off tomorrow (Wednesday).
