Firefighters who rescued 17-year-old girl from fire honoured

UAE Interior Minister honours 11 firefighters

ABU DHABI 8 May 2017: Eleven civil defence workers, including three officers, who rescued a 17-year-old Emirati girl from a fire that broke out at her family’s house in the Lulayyah area in Khor Fakkan, Sharjah, last Thursday, were honoured by Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, at the Ministry, said Wam.

Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, one of the honourees, noted that the recognition should motivate the group to continue to make efforts and sacrifices to serve their country in all circumstances.

The firefighters rushed to the girl’s house and broke open the door to find her unconscious due to smoke inhalation. They moved her, along with two other women, to safety.
