Four rescuers killed in Jebel Jais helicopter crash

ABU DHABI 31 December 2018: The National Search and Rescue Center has announced that four people were on board Agusta 139 rescue helicopter which crashed next to Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday.

The National Search and Rescue Center expresses sincere sympathies to the families of the helicopter’s crew.

The Center has announced the names of the four-people crew who were killed while performing their duty.

  1. Pilot Saqr Saeed Mohamed Abdullah AlYamahi
  2. Pilot Hameed Mohamed Obaid AlZa’abi
  3. Navigator Jasim Abdullah Ali Tunaiji
  4. First Aid Man Mark Roxburgh

The National Search and Rescue Center expressed sincere sympathies with the crew’s families.

Earlier, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced the crash of Agusta 139 helicopter during a rescue mission next to Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah.

The crash took place at about 5.50 p.m. on Saturday.

RAK Ruler orders immediate investigation

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has ordered immediate investigation into the crash of a rescue helicopter next to Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah and the death of its crew.

H.H. Sheikh Saud has also ordered a comprehensive investigation into the safety and security arrangements and measures followed in the incident venue to identify the causes behind the crash.
