Dubai Crown Prince attends Maktoum bin Rashid Cup

The race is part of Al Marmoom Heritage Festival

DUBAI 17 April 2017: Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Camel Race Cup at Al Marmoom Camel Racetrack.

The race is part of Al Marmoom Heritage Festival.

Sheikh Hamdan affirmed that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum support the camel racing sports. During an interview with Dubai Racing TV, Sheikh Hamdan praised the media coverage of the annual event, which contributes in the growth of the sport.

Following the races, Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum crowned the winners.

Sheikh Hamdan attended the second round of the Tribesmen ‘Thanaya’ category camel race as part of the 2017 Al Marmoum Hertige Festival.

Attracting a huge crowd from owners and camel race enthusiasts from across the GCC, the 8-km races were split into 16 morning rounds and 18 in the evening.

Another achievement added to this year’s festival is the successful implementation of a ‘smart race application’ developed by the Dubai Camel Racing Club. The application streamlined the process of camel registration and race management for more than 13,000 camels taking part in the festival’s various race categories.
