Hijri New Year is today, no holiday on Sunday

ABU DHABI 31 August 2019: The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR), on Friday announced that Saturday, 31st August, will be a public holiday for the federal government to mark the Hijri new year.

”In light of the announcement of the relevant authorities in the government that Saturday is the first day of Muharram 1441 H, the Hijri new year’s holiday will, therefore, be observed on Saturday,” said FAHR in a statement.

The statement added yo Wam that regular work will resume on Sunday, the 1st of September 2019.

UAE leaders offer greetings

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent congratulatory cables to kings, presidents and emirs of the Arab and Islamic countries on the advent of the new Hijri year.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, dispatched similar greetings to Arab and Islamic leaders on the glorious occasion.
