DUBAI 26 October 2018: The grand celebrations for the festival of lights, Diwali, was celebrated in a traditional manner at the Etisalat Academy on 26.
The mega event titled ‘Diwali Utsav 2018’, was being organised by the Friends of India (FOI) Events. It not only witnessed a spectacular exhibition of lights, music and festive activities but also highlighted traditional old games of India and rangoli competitions in which more than 100 teams participated.
In a message, Consul General Vipul said : “I am happy that we are supporting Friends of India in organising a big Diwali function on October 26. This event has also been held very successfully for the past few years with participation of hundreds of Indians. I wish all Indians in UAE a very happy festival season and encourage them to participate in the festivities with great enthusiasm. This year’s festivities also assume importance as we are observing 100 years of Sheikh Zayed and 150 years of Gandhiji. Both these leaders have taught how humanity should work together and live in peace, harmony and tolerance.”
The major highlight of the event will be the live performance by National Award winner singer Sri Naresh Iyer, along with Bennet & Band from 2030 hrs onwards.
Arrangements have also been made for traditional Indian food stalls where guests can experience and enjoy mouthwatering dishes and snacks, and also shop authentic Diwali items.
