RIYADH 18 August 2020: The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), strongly denounced “threats” made by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in his recent speech and other officials regarding sovereign decisions taken by the UAE.
In a statement issued yesterday, Dr. Nayef Falah Al Hajraf, said these threats carry dangerous repercussions on the security and stability of the Arab Gulf region, and are inconsistent with diplomatic norms.
Dr. Nayef Falah Al Hajraf called on Iran to adhere to the basic principles and fundamentals of the United Nations Charter and international law, which are based on respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, resolving disputes by peaceful means, and not using or threatening to use the force, said Wam.
”The GCC stands in solidarity with UAE against any threats to its sovereignty, security and stability within the framework of joint defence principle,” Dr Al Hajraf affirmed.
The security and stability of the GCC are indivisible, he said, calling – at the same time – Iran to adhere to the policy of good neighborliness and to desist from threatening language that does not serve security and stability in the region and the world at large.
Eight illegal fishing boats spotted in UAE’s territorial waters
ABU DHABI: A patrol of the Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority (CICIPA), located at 12:00 on Monday a number of fishing boats entering the territorial waters of the UAE northwest of Sir Bu Nair Island.
The Coast Guard boats attempted to stop the fishing boats but they did not obey orders.
CICPA reported that three pursuit and support boats were deployed where it was confirmed that eight illegal fishing boats are there.
