Long weekend in UAE…December 11 holiday for private, public sectors

December 11, 2016 is a holiday in the UAE to celebrate birthday anniversary of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation declared Sunday an official paid holiday for private and public sector employees.

Meanwhile, Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) also declared Sundayan official holiday for all UAE financial markets, except the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX).

Financial markets will resume work on Monday, December 12, the SCA said.

The SCA made the announcement as per Circular No. 40 of 2016, issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources for ministries and other federal departments.

Accordingly, DGCX will decide the holiday as per the requirements of work and public interest, the SCA said.
