DUBAI 30 January 2019: A patrol affiliated with the ‘School Security’ initiative at Dubai Police found a lost 5-year-old kindergartner holding his bag and walking alone on a public road in International City.

The ‘School Security’ managed to identify the child and his parents and handed the kid over to his mom and dad after making sure of their identities.

Dubai Police also summoned the kindergarten’s administration on the basis of negligence and omission of the supervisor who forgot to put the child on the bus.

The names of the family and the school were withheld.

Brigadier Saeed Hamad Bin Sulaiman Al Malek, Director of Al Rashidiyah Police Station and the Head of the Initiative, said the ‘School Security’ patrol took the child to Al Rashidiyah Police Station where specialists in Dubai Police comforted the lost child in child-friendly environment until the arrival of his parents.

Brigadier Al Malek said Al Rashidiyah Police Station immediately verified the child’s identity through his school books, indicating the negligence of the bus supervisor who had forgotten the child after getting the rest of the children off the bus. As a result, the child left the bus and started wandering scared across streets.

Action Against School

“The school’s head, bus supervisor and driver were summoned to the station and necessary action were taken against them,” Brigadier Al Malek added.

He also stressed the importance of constantly monitoring children when in public places either by their parents or education personnel. He emphasized that child neglect is punishable by law, in accordance with the Federal Law No. 3 of 2016 concerning child rights.

Brigadier Al Malek praised the efforts of the ‘School Security’ patrol.

The child’s parents were extremely happy and expressed their thanks to Dubai Police for the speedy action of finding their child and maintaining his safety.
