Two men killed a Pizza Hut delivery driver in a ‘snatch and grab’ robbery to steal three pizzas in Britain, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The pair had been drinking with friends when they hatched a plan to take the food without paying, the Metro said.
Prosecutor Gregory Perrins said 29-year-old Mark Lintott gave a false address in his street when he phoned in his order, and he and his friend Joel Lawson, 25, ambushed the driver when he arrived.
Pizza delivery man Ali Qasemi, 45, died after Lawson punched him, causing him to fall and strike his head on the pavement.
Lawson, of Norwich, admitted manslaughter and robbery ahead of the trial, the jury heard, and Lintott, of Peterborough denies manslaughter and robbery.
The pair were drinking at Lintott’s flat in Peterborough in the early hours of May 8 this year when Lintott called Pizza Hut, the court heard.
Mr Qasemi was a married father of two, and his widow Fawzia was pregnant at the time. He died of a serious head injury two days after the attack.
The prosecution say that although Lawson threw the punch, both he and Lintott were ‘equally responsible’ as they hatched the plan together.
Lintott made the call to Pizza Hut at 12.20am, ordering three pizzas at a cost of just over £50.
