Mohamad bin Zayed’s daughter head of Special Olympics UAE

“I am proud to be part of Special Olympics UAE”, says Mariam bint Mohamad

ABU DHABI 8 October 2017: Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamad bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for his trust in including her in the newly restructured organisation of Special Olympics UAE.

Under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Special Olympics UAE will be re-established as an independent association acknowledged by the Ministry of Community Development. Sheikha Mariam will serve as Honorary Chair of the newly restructured organisation, said Wam.

“I am proud to be a part of this national family, especially during a crucial and important time for the programme as the UAE plans to host the World Games,” Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamad.

She added that she will dedicate all the support and resources required to ensure that the programme is successful in touching the lives of people in the region and the World.

“Today marks a new milestone for Special Olympics UAE, as it is now an independent organisation, which will further enhance our role in building a legacy for our current and future Special Olympics champions and their families, and every person interested in becoming part of the Special Olympics family in the years to come.”

She also expressed her gratitude to everyone who began this journey and was involved in it over the past years, and acknowledges their outstanding contributions and achievements in leading us to where we are today.
