Dubai, Sharjah rulers receive Rahul Gandhi

DUBAI 14 January 2019: H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, received yesterday morning at his office Rahul Gandhi, President of Indian National Congress.

Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, were present at the meeting.

The meeting touched upon the historical relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India, the promotion of bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as ways of bolstering cultural, social and cultural communication between the two friendly peoples.

Gandhi praised the scientific, educational and cultural renaissance in the Emirate of Sharjah and the support of Dr. Sheikh Sultan for various humanitarian and educational projects, which, he said, are reflected in the Emirate’s great scientific and cultural development.

Dr. Sheikh Sultan presented his guest with a number of his literary and cultural publications.

The meeting was also attended by a number of Sheikhs and Indian officials.

Mohammed receives Rahul Gandhi

On Friday January 11, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday received Rahul Gandhi, President of the Indian National Congress, in presence of the Deputy Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and his guest discussed the historical friendly relations between the United Arab Emirates and India, and emphasised the importance of strengthening these relations on all levels for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed and his distinguished guest also highlighted the need to uphold the values of tolerance, coexistence, and dialogue between different cultures and ethnicities.

Rahul Gandhi, the President of the Indian National Congress, praised the fast-paced development the United Arab Emirates is witnessing on all aspects, with an emphasis on tolerance and equality to create an admirable model of development. Gandhi also commended the declaration of 2019 as the ‘Year of Tolerance’ in reflection of the values the UAE stands for.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of the Emirates Group; Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future; Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of The Ruler’s Court; and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of the Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department.

Earlier, Rahul addressed a huge crowd in Dubai of Indian expatriates.
