FNC approves law draft on domestic workers

ABU DHABI 4 June 2017: The Federal National Council (FNC), has approved a draft federal law on domestic workers.

It was approved during FNC’s 17th session of the second ordinary session of the 16th legislative chapter at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, chaired by Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council.

The FNC stressed the importance of the draft law in organising the relations between employers, domestic workers and recruitment offices, as an important issue for the community. It also highlighted that the draft law will include legal principles and regulations that consider international conventions and agreements, which were ratified by the country.

The FNC congratulated the UAE’s leadership and people, as well as Islamic and Arab countries, on the Holy Month of Ramadan, while wishing the UAE greater safety, security, prosperity and happiness.

The FNC also expressed its appreciation to the wise leadership for supporting the council in fulfilling its role, under the framework of its legislative powers and its desire to constantly monitor and communicate with the FNC, to achieve the nation’s and its citizens’ interests.

The session was attended by Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs.
