DUBAI 27 June 2018: Salem Al Badawi is an immigration officer with a soft heart.

While on duty he heard the tale of a Syrian merchant whose car broke down. He and his family were crossing the Hatta border to Oman early on Eid Friday morning.

What did Salem do? He tried to call a taxi, but as it was early morning on a Friday and that too on the first day of Eid Al Fitr, no one responded. He then offered them his own car.

Salem even had the broken down car towed to a garage and on the family’s return from Muscat drove them to their home in Dubai.

In recognition of his selfless action, His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice-President and Prime minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered his promotion to First Agent.

First Agent Salem Al Badawi said the promotion is considered a medal from a leader who values the efforts of his sons.
