Registrations open for 2019 Adnoc Abu Dhabi Marathon

ABU DHABI 10 April, 2019: Registrations for Abu Dhabi’s biggest community sports event – the 2019 Adnoc Abu Dhabi Marathon – have opened.

The organizer, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and race title sponsor, Adnoc, confirmed the world-class event will take place on Friday 6th December following UAE’s 48th National Day celebrations.

With over 10,000 participants taking part in the inaugural marathon in 2018, the number of runners is expected to be even higher at this year’s race as the event’s global profile continues to grow. The event will host four different races of varying distances and aptitudes to appeal to runners of all abilities as well as first-timers and families.

Registration fees will remain the same as last year, with a 30% discount offered to runners who sign up before 31st May and special package offers for corporate entries. Every participant will receive a free race shirt and medal, and, along with crowds from all over the world, will be able to join the fun activities in event village.

Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council said: “As part of our celebrations of the UAE’s 48th National Day, we will welcome runners from all corners of the community, as well as outside the Emirates, to Abu Dhabi to unite and run with one purpose in the heart of our iconic city. Our city is home to stunning natural beauty, culture and heritage which visitors to the Adnoc Abu Dhabi Marathon can experience as part of their memorable visit to the UAE.”

2.5KM ‘Fun Run’: Prices start at Dh50 for the family-friendly 2.5km fun run, with children under six able to take part for free.

5KM Race: For members of the community ready to be part of one of the world’s great sporting events in their home town, the 5km race will is priced at Dh75.

10KM Race: Runners looking to challenge themselves, and beat their ‘personal best’ can take part in the 10km for Dh150.

42.2KM Marathon: Whether accomplishing a life-long ambition, or fulfilling a long-distance running hobby, participants will run alongside some of the world’s elite runners on a fast course, with ideal conditions on the shores of the Arabian Gulf. Priced at Dh350, participants who finish in a podium position are eligible for an Age Group Prize Fund.
