ABU DHABI 17 January 2019: Live music, trick shot masterclasses and unique sports experiences at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA bring Championship Village to life.

An eight-foot golf club and a golfer on a unicycle were just two of the eye-catching moments on offer in The Championship Village on the first day of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA.

While most eyes were on the thrilling on-course action as some of the world’s best golfers including World Number 2 Brooks Koepka and double winner Tommy Fleetwood battled it out for the famous Falcon Trophy, there was also driving, chipping and putting galore for fans of all ages to enjoy off the course.

The Championship Village hosted entertainment for families and their children – from free sporting activities to live music and fantastic food. The main fan focus was on a trick shot masterclass involving a three-foot tee, driving with an 8-foot shaft and teeing off while riding a unicycle.

The world famous Trick Shot Boys put on a jaw dropping performance for fans including the Future Falcons, an initiative that seeks to promote grass roots golf in Abu Dhabi.

Speaking about the display, Kevin Carpenter from The Trick Shot Boys said: “Golf is a fantastic sport for all the family and we use our tricks to make the game even more memorable for fans, particularly the younger ones.

“Our aim is to make golf as fun and enjoyable and the Future Falcons were fantastic at joining in a trying out some trick shots of their own.

“We hope as many of them of them continue to play the game and hopefully one day compete for the Falcon Trophy themselves – although maybe not with my 8-foot driver though!”

The Championship Village at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA will be providing free sports activities throughout the tournament which also includes, live music, food and drink, and much more.

Adam Jolly, biology teacher at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, said: “The tournament is a great introduction to golf. In putting distance are some of the world’s best golfers, which a few of our students who are golfing fans have been interacting with all day and for those are just getting into golf are great activities in the Championship Village including amazing performances from The Trick Shot Boys. This tournament does cater for all levels of interest and abilities.”
