UAE defeats Hong Kong in Ice Hockey qualifiers

ABU DHABI 2 April 2019: The UAE National Ice Hockey Team defeated Hong Kong, by a score of 11-1, during the first match of the qualifiers for the Ice Hockey World Championship, which was held in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE team controlled the match’s three rounds, finishing the first round with a score of 5-0, and the second with 5-1, and the third with 1-0, ending with a well-earned win.

The match witnessed the attendance of a large crowd, which motivated the players to exert their maximum efforts, said Wam.

In the second match of the qualifiers, Kyrgyzstan defeated Kuwait, by a score of 14-0.

Juma Al Dhaheri, Captain of the UAE National Ice Hockey Team, praised the technical level of his team during its first match against Hong Kong while pointing out that their victory is the result of considerable efforts and planning, which included attending a training camp before the start of the qualifiers.

He explained that the teams participating in the qualifiers are strong, but the UAE National Team is likely to be the only qualifier for the Ice Hockey World Championship.

He called on the fans to support the team during the qualifiers while praising the Kuwaiti National Team’s players, who include young and promising talents.
