UAE freezes accounts of 18 new terrorist outfits

Central Bank issues circular to all banks

ABU DHABI 27 July 2017: The UAE Central Bank has issued a circular to all banks and other financial institutions operating in the country to start immediate search for and freezing of all bank accounts, investments, and deposits that may be held by any individual or entity mentioned in the new terror lists declared by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Bahrain and Egypt on July 25th, 2017.

The move comes as part of the four countries’ consistent efforts to fight terrorism and their continual endeavors to update their lists of groups designated as terrorist organisations and individuals, and in line with the UAE Cabinet Resolution No 28 /2017 to add nine individuals and nine charities to the terror lists, said Wam.

Libya confirms accuracy of new terror designations

TRIPOLI: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Libyan interim government has confirmed the accuracy of the new terror designation, recently declared by the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The four countries announced the designation of nine entities and nine individuals, including Libyan terrorists, on the lists of terrorist groups.

In a statement, the ministry expressed appreciation to the four countries for working to fulfil the aspirations of the Libyan people and mitigating the risks posed by groups and individuals who support terrorism in Libya.

“Such brave decisions strengthen the Arab security, in the face of Qatar’s obstinacy,” the ministry said.
