UAE a key centre for world’s most successful horseracing: Dupre

Dubai World Cup set to run on Saturday

GOUVIEUX, FRANCE, 24th March, 2017: Leading French thoroughbred racehorse trainer Alain de Royer Dupre who trained Vazirabad, the horse that won the Dubai World Cup last year, hailed the UAE as a key centre for the most successful horseracing events in the world.

Thirty of France’s best horses are participating as part of Dupre’s team in the 2017 Dubai World Cup, set to begin on Saturday.

The best racehorses in the world are competing at the Dubai World Cup in the UAE. The event would not be possible without the high-quality Meydan racecourses, which beat the world’s best racecourse, thanks to the efforts of Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dupre told WAM in a statement.

Dupre said his team underwent intensive training over the past months in the hope of wining this year’s Dubai World Cup.

The 2016-17 Meydan racing season gets underway on Thursday, 3rd November 2016, while the international Dubai World Cup Carnival launches on Thursday, 5th January 2017. The season then counts down to the Dubai World Cup, the world’s richest day of racing with a prize of US$10m for the winner alone, on the last Saturday of March.
