Major deal: UAE netball scores for women’s sport

Leading international skincare brand champions women’s sport in UAE

RU-Active is poised to put netball on the UAE map sealing a three-year sponsorship deal with leading international skin care brand Dermologica raising the profile of women’s sport in the region.

Sportswear supplier BLK, will help ensure Dubai’s premier netball organisation can continue to provide expert training, leagues and development opportunities for its players.

It also paves the way for taking the sport to the next level of recognition and support in the UAE, with the ultimate ambition of becoming affiliated with the UAE General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare.

Netball is leading by example for women’s sports in the UAE by attracting its first international brand as a sponsor.

Such funding is essential to encourage more women to participate and enjoy sporting activities.

Susanne Skelding, Director of Sport at R-U Active, says: “Netball is witnessing fantastic growth across the UAE with around 750 women and girls competing every week in our Dubai programme. Dermalogica’s commitment is a fantastic demonstration of their confidence in the potential of women’s sport in the UAE.”

Sarah Sheikh, Marketing Manager for Dermalogica Middle East, said: “We’re really thrilled by this exciting new partnership.  RU-Active Sport’s Elite Players will be excellent ambassadors for our Clear Start range, which is aimed at young women.

“It’s been a lot of fun helping to design the new kit and we can’t wait to see the girls training and competing in it.”

Dan Harrison, Brand Manager for BLK Middle East, said: “As a brand, we are not only committed to netball, but to women in sport in general. Therefore, we are delighted to become the official kit supplier to the RU-Active Elite Netball Player programme, which supports the future stars of netball.  This continues our commitment to the sport, which includes partnerships with Australian Diamonds, Silver Ferns in New Zealand and the England Roses.”
