DUBAI 23 August 2018: Al Ghandi Auto, one of Chevrolet dealers in the UAE, have handed over the keys of the first Bolt EV to Janice Albrando from the Philippines.

As the first owner of a Bolt EV in Dubai, Janice is a step closer to achieving her personal aspirations to become more eco-friendly and to live a more sustainable life.

The Bolt EV is Chevrolet’s first electric vehicle in the region and the first electric vehicle ever to combine clean technology with an anxiety-free range of over 500km on a single charge.

Janice said: “When I first heard about the Chevrolet Bolt EV I was excited to learn more as it meets all my requirements on green credentials without compromising on performance or range, making it ideal as my main car. Doing my part to protect the environment is important to me, especially in the small lifestyle adjustments everyone can make, and committing to an electric vehicle is the next step for me and my family.”

Molly Peck, Chief Marketing Officer at General Motors – Middle East said: “Since its debut at the Dubai International Motor Show and its participation in the Global Electric Vehicle Road Trip, we have seen an unprecedented appetite for the Chevrolet Bolt EV in the region and we’re delighted to finally start putting keys in hands.”

To mark the milestone the first Bolt EV sale in Dubai, Chevrolet’s strategic partner, GreenParking, provided Janice with a level 1 charger to offer easy charging in her apartment block parking. Sam Alawiye – CEO at GreenParking said: “Driving the future of mobility forward is our goal and we are excited to see more electric vehicles on the road. Partnering with General Motors to provide their Bolt EV customers with convenient home charging solutions demonstrates our commitment to the Middle East’s transport revolution.”

The Chevrolet Bolt EV delivers spacious comfort and reliability paired with a 204 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque delivering speed and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.

Additionally, with the reduced service requirements of its electric drive, the Chevrolet Bolt EV offers an exceptionally low cost of maintenance. Likewise, government initiatives offering free parking, free registration for EVs, free Salik tags as well as free charging at Dewa-approved stations until end of 2019 add to the cost benefits of owning an electric vehicle.
