Man claims woman used his mobile to send herself threatening messages

Two visitors to the UAE have landed in court over a WhatsApp message, with one of them claiming the other threatened to kill her.

OS, 23, Indian, allegedly threatened of kill JM, 27, Italian, if she did not continue being friends with him and pursue their business relationship, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Wednesday.

However, OS denied the claims in court. He explained that JM herself send the messages from his phone after they had an argument.

Earlier, JM reported to police that she had received a message from OS on her WhatsApp where he reportedly threatened to kill her.

Police summoned OS and questioned him. But he denied the accusation and claimed that she sent the messages using his phone.

“We had intimate relationship and we used to stay in the same flat. On May 19, we had an argument. After I went to bed, she took my phone and sent the messages to her mobile,” he told investigators.

However, OS, could not provide police with the messages as he had cleared the chat history.

The court will issue verdict on November 16.
