DUBAI, March 25, 2017: The Dubai World Cup – the globe’s richest horse race in on today – and aficionados are biting their nails on who will win the $10 million prize. Will it be Arrogate?

Excitement is growing and the build up to the race has been as suspenseful as the finish is likely to be nail-biting.

On Thursday, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended a reception hosted by Meydan ahead of the Dubai World Cup.

The world’s richest race meeting, the Dubai World Cup, is attracting world renown riders who will compete with their UAE peers.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum said Dubai World Cup has placed itself as the most prestigious horse race in the world.

Sheikh Mohammed also said that the event has once again caught the world’s attention as it hosts the best horses and jockeys.

The Dubai The Dubai World Cup was launched in 1996, where it provides a truly global stage upon which the best horses in the world come to compete every year.

“We believe in the power of dreams and the importance of sticking to the vision. What you see now in Meydan racecourse is prove that great achievements are achieved when you work on it,” Sheikh Mohammed said.

Sheikh Mohammed said that the Dubai World Cup represents the power of horses and the skills of jockeys and trainers, adding that the event also showcase the heritage of the UAE and enhances its position and success in organizing major events.

“Today, the Dubai World Cup has transformed into more than just a sporting event. It is deeply embossed into the social fabric of the UAE and Dubai. It is a platform upon which our richest treasure is showcased; the UAE’s people and the diverse cultural fabric of humanity,” he added. Sheikh Mohammed also welcomed attendees and wished them best of luck.

The Meydan function was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, a number of senior officials, headline sponsors, partners, businessmen, stables owners and Arab and foreign personalities.

Sheikh Mohammed interacted with the audience and talked with them about the expected race.
