UAE 14 June 2021: Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has announced a list of new destinations in time for the summer, including the idyllic Greek islands of Mykonos, Rhodes and Crete. Flights to Mykonos will start on 07 July, Crete on 09 July and Rhodes on 12 July.

The route to Mykonos will be operated twice per week on Wednesdays and Sundays. Rhodes will operate on Mondays and Fridays, which is also the same for Crete. Tickets went on sale for Mykonos, Rhodes and Crete on 7 June 2021 on wizzair.com and the airline’s mobile app (also available in Arabic), with fares starting as low as Dh179 for all flights*.

The new Greek destinations offer travellers a myriad of experiences, white sandy and secluded beaches, crystal clear waters, buzzing nightlife, and a wealth of historical sites and ancient treasures to discover. The announcement comes as the UAE has established a travel corridor for Greece and brings Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s flight network to a total of 29 destinations.

UAE passengers can fly into Greece without needing to quarantine on arrival. They must provide a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before arrival, or hold a vaccination certificate in English issued by a public authority, children five years of age and younger are exempted. The vaccination needs to have been completed at least 14 days before arrival to Greece. The certificate should include the full name of the passenger, the type of vaccine, the number of doses taken with their respective dates.

Travellers must also complete a Passenger Locator Form, provided electronically by Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, prior to arriving at the airport. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi offers discounted PCR tests in Abu Dhabi. Everyone on board of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi flights will have been tested prior to boarding and approved to travel in line with Abu Dhabi Airport guidelines.

When returning to Abu Dhabi, UAE residents and citizens who have been vaccinated for at least 28 days, and have received a vaccine report on the Alhosn app, will be able to fly into the UAE from Greece without having to follow quarantine restrictions. Passengers will have to take a PCR test 72 hours before departure, alongside taking another free of charge PCR test on arrival at Abu Dhabi airport and another on the sixth day after arriving. Children 12 years of age and younger are exempted.

For ultimate peace of mind during this uncertain time, passengers can book tickets with confidence, thanks to WIZZ Flex. With WIZZ Flex, passengers can cancel their flight up to three hours before departure without any fee and receive 100% of the fare immediately reimbursed in airline credit.

Air Arabia flies to Phuket

Air Arabia has announced the introduction of a new service to Phuket, Thailand, with direct flights from Sharjah International Airport starting on 2nd July, 2021. Air Arabia is the first low-cost carrier in the region to launch a direct route to Phuket.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand has confirmed that travelers who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 from low-risk countries will be allowed to fly direct to the popular holiday destination without having to quarantine from 1st July. Visitors will only need to stay in the area they landed for seven days before they can visit other destinations in the country.

Customers can now book their direct flights between Sharjah and Phuket by visiting Air Arabia’s website, by calling the call centre or through travel agencies.

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi flights to Yerevan

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi announced the launch of direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Yerevan in Armenia from July 13, 2021. The non-stop three hour flight will be operating twice a week with starting price of Dh949 for return flights.

Etihad Guest, Air Arabia tie-up

Etihad Guest has partnered with Air Arabia’s loyalty programme AirRewards, to allow members of both schemes to benefit from reciprocal points and miles transfers. These could be spent on flights with Etihad and Air Arabia, holidays, shopping and more.

When transferring miles, Etihad Guest members will now receive 1 AirReward Point for every 2 Etihad Guest Miles. AirRewards can be transferred to Etihad Guest Miles at the conversion rate of 2 AirRewards Points for every 1 Etihad Guest Mile.

In response to the pandemic, both airline’s loyalty programmes have implemented initiatives to protect member benefits and further engage with their loyal communities. Etihad Guest ensured that no member had their status downgraded by gifting monthly bonus Tier Miles, offering double Tier Miles promotions, reinstating expired miles and removing the GuestSeat change fee.

Both airlines have demonstrated a commitment to providing the highest standards of health and wellbeing across the entire guest journey. Last year, Etihad unveiled its Etihad Wellness programme featuring Wellness Ambassadors available to reassure guests at every stage of the journey. The airline was the first airline in the world to require 100% of passengers to provide a negative PCR test result before departure, and then retesting on arrival. Etihad also offers free Covid wellness insurance for all guests travelling on its network globally.

To benefit from this partnership, customers should visit their Etihad Guest or AirRewards account online to link their accounts and easily transfer Points and Miles between the two.
