Fire at two Abu Dhabi buildings under construction

Ten firefighters suffered from choking as they tried to save workers and battle a massive blaze that engulfed two buildings under construction in Abu Dhabi.

The fire erupted in the two buildings in Zahia area on Tuesday morning and fire engines backed by helicopters were seen racing towards the scene as police cars tried to clear the roads in that busy area.

Civil defence sources said 10 firefighters and three workers suffered from choking and received first aid on the spot before the blaze was brought under control.

Police and civil defence said they are investigating the incident and whether lack of safety measures caused the fire.
