3,564 calls, 564 fog accidents in Dubai in 1 day

DUBAI 9 February 2018: Dubai Police received 3,564 calls and recorded 564 traffic accidents that took place during the foggy conditions from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Colonel Turki bin Faris, Director of Command and Control Centre, Dubai Police, urged motorists to follow traffic tips issued by the traffic police and other authorities concerned for their own safety.

He noted that traffic accidents that usually take place during foggy and rainy conditions are fatal due to poor and low visibility

NCM warns of fog, poor visibility

The National Center of Meteorology has urged motorists to take all precaution against poor visibility, caused by fog formations.

”Visibility is less than 500 meters at times over some coastal and northern areas of country and will extend to some internal areas especially the central, while the vision will reduces less than 100 sometimes over some areas, during the period from 23:00 p.m. tonight until 11:00 a.m. tomorrow morning,” said the NCM in a fog warning on Thursday.
