All flights from the UAE to Pakistan suspended

ABU DHABI 28 February 2019: The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), has announced that all airline flights to Pakistan will be suspended until further notice.

In a statement, the authority said that the decision came following current developments in Pakistan.

The GCAA will continue to monitor the situation in Pakistan and take appropriate decisions to ensure the safety of passengers and national carriers, said Wam.

Dubai Airports confirmed flights to and from Pakistan have been impacted until further notice due to the closure of Pakistani airspace. Dubai Airports is working closely with airlines, control authorities and air traffic controllers to minimize operational impact and customer inconvenience.

Dubai Airports said it will continue to closely monitor the situation. Passengers on affected flights are advised to check with their respective airlines for updates.

The flights suspension is to ensure the safety of passengers as military air skirmishes between India and Pakistan have escalated over the past couple of days.

Tensions between the two South Asian neighbours boiled over following a suicide terror attack on Indian forces in Kashmir where 40 personnel were killed.

India retaliated with a cross-border airstrike on Balakot where it said were terror training camps and from where the suicide attack was planned.

In a fresh skirmish, Pakistan claimed to have downed two Indian Air Force planes while India said it had shot down one Pakistani jet.


UAE condemns terrorist attack on police force in Kashmir

ABU DHABI: The UAE has condemned the terrorist attack on security forces in Kashmir, on Thursday that left scores of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel dead and injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement that the UAE “condemns this terrorist act,” reiterating the country’s principled and unequivocal position rejecting all forms of violence and terrorism.

”The UAE stands in solidarity with the government and people of India in their fight against violence and extremism,” the Ministry said in a statement to Wam.

The ministry called on the international community to unify efforts in confronting extremism and terrorism that pose a threat to global security and stability.

The ministry expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured during the terrorist act.
