DUBAI 23 March 2019: A fire on a boat on Dubai Creek set off a huge plume of smoke darkening the skies on either side of the key waterway.
Dubai Civil Defence were at the scene and managed to successfully put out the fire, reported to have been on one of the many wooden dhows that line th eCreek.
“Fire erupts in a Dhow in Dubai Creek. Dubai Civil Defence have bought the fire under control. There are no reports of injuries,” said a tweet from the Government of Dubai Media Office.
Dhow or traditional country craft sail the Gulf and onward east to India and Pakistan and west to the eastern coast of Africa carrying trade merchandise and even live animals such as goats.
